We are free!

“The secret of happiness is freedom. The secret of freedom is courage.” Thucydides

Christ has set us free! This means we are really free. Now hold on to your freedom and don’t ever become slaves of the Law again. Galatians 5.v1

WE ARE FREE! but o ,how we chain ourselves up. Fear, the evangelist said on the radio is False Evidence Appearing Real.

The -ites are after me……..

fear-ites
disease-ites
poverty-ites
bad relationship-ites
stress-ites
insecurity -ites
rejection-ites

Have you got itis today, I nearly fell for that one yesterday! There is NO fear in LOVE.(dread does not exist!)
but fullgrown (complete ,perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror.

If you don’t want to hear the crazy lady get going about living the christian life then stop here……..

The feeling of fear or fearful thoughts is simply our enemy satan trying to distract us from God and his will for our lives. We may feel fear at various times in our lives but we can CHOOSE to trust God and if we need to ,do it “afraid”. 1 Timothy 2.v7says…

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of POWER ,of loveand self-discipline. (italics mine)

Trouble = fear=what if
Satan is trying to stop us going forward in Gods will and in his plans for our lives.

What can we do about it? Yes its up to us to do something!

1. PRAY…. some of us get scared at that word…not the flowery kind of prayers ….talk to God…he’s your Father tell him how you feel, rant and rave if you want to….. He can take it!
Get emotional/mental victory over the fear feeling. Focus on God. yes… Praise him for all the past things he’s helped you through..you thought they were bad but you are still here…trust him to do it again…He will!

2.RECEIVE…..God has blessings, strange churchy word but can’t think of a better one just now…. good things perhaps but better than that…..Maybe we are having to do things we don’t like or we think won’t work. Our trust and reliance on God must be greater than what we personally feel.

The disciples were fishing but had no catch, they were experienced men ,they knew thier trade, there were no fish….. but Jesus tells them ,lower the nets again! We may not like what we hear but we need to obey God not our feelings.

So whatever your fear is, whatever seems to be falling apart…or if the ites are after you

Remember God is WITH you….
God is FOR you
You can overcome

Trusting God brings life, BELIEVING brings REST…….YOU are MORE than a conquer in Christ Jesus….go get ’em!

Thanks to all the sources that I used for this.Unfortunatly I didn’t write your names down while iIwas listening to you.

Standing up for what we believe.

The following statement of faith appears on my friends mission statement. You may like to read about Paul and the work that he is doing in many parts of the world in Jesus’ name. Please look at his web site www.paulbennison.com. The statement was apparently written by a young Zimbabwean minister before he was matyred.
May we all have the courage to say this.

I’m part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have the Holy spirits power. The die is cast I have stepped over
the line. The decision has been made-I’m a disciple of His.

I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure.

I’m finished and done with low living, sight walking, smooth knees, colourless dreams, tamed visions, wordly talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, plaudits, or popularity. I don’t have to be right, first, tops, recognised, praised, regarded, or rewarded.

I now live by faith, lean in His presence, walk by patience, am uplifted by prayer, and I labour with power.

My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my guide is reliable, my mission is clear.

I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the enemy, pander at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won’t give up, shut up, or let up – until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up – for the cause of Christ.

I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till He stops me.

And when He comes for His own, He will have no problem in recognising me – my banner will be clear!

Insecurities

Ever had a day when something is bugging you but you not quite sure what it is? a kind of sixth sense that something isn’t quite right?

-Well thats me today, but just read this verse on Extravagant Graces’ blog..

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways acknowledge Him,and he will make your paths straight.”

We KNOW that God knows best, but we still try to work things out for ourselves. He has our very best interests at heart and will direct us down that path!

So hold on to your hat, trust, lean, acknowlege and get going!

Mal Fletcher’s DAILY RECHARGE
Bigger Things In Store
16 October 2007
Ephesians 3:20 ‘[God can] do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.’God’s sphere of influence for your life is much bigger than you can think or imagine! Paul didn’t waste time wanting a bigger sphere of influence. He filled the one God had for him – and that took an investment of his entire life! Whenever thought he had done it, that he’d arrived, God showed him the sphere was bigger. He went from Antioch, to Jerusalem, then on to reaching the Gentiles in Asia Minor and finally to reaching people in what is now Western Europe. At each stage, God gave him great success (often in the face of great battles). Yet at each stage, God pointed him onward toward even more growth and influence. That’s God’s plan for your life. Whatever influence you have on others today – God has even bigger things in store!PRAYER: ‘Lord, help me not to limit what you can do through my life. Lead me on, as you did with Paul, to even greater levels of influence for your name’s sake.’©2003-2004 Mal Fletcher

A Timely Word

A man finds joy ingiving an apt reply-and how good is a timely word. Prov.15 .23

A timely word…… this morning I received an e.mail from a friend that really lifted me .Just a few sentences to encourage me to keep up my studies and confirming that I was in the right place and God could use what I was doing.

It was a breath of fresh air.

Then I got to thinking, these are gems sent to us by others that build us up,but are we really listening to the people close to us, the ones that encourage us daily, the ones whose voices that we are used to hearing.Perhaps we should listen more closely ,never take them for granted.

Lord, thank you for those who love me. For their timely words and their thoughtfulness.Let me be an uplifter today.

Lectures-phew!

Friday at last, and half term looms, later mornings but what to do with the growing offspring to keep them occupied?

Last night was the second of the Scottish Church History lectures, wow, very hard going!I’m the only English Baptist in a group of Scottish Presbyterians and Episcopalians.I find Scotland abit of a tundra spiritually, well here anyway,I’d like to find somewhere with a younger congregation (age wise) and where the children could ENJOY going to church!
I mentioned yesterday that I was ‘following’, because thats the only way that God can make you into who he wants you to be.Sometimes its easy to get discouraged and feel as if you are wandering around in the dark.
I said in an earlier post that Psychology seemed to promote positive thinking, well So does christianity, but its positive thinking + GOD.
In Psalm 46, God is mentioned 11 times. Its only a short Psalm compared with others.

Today the verse..’God is in the midst of her… she will not be moved..’ caught my eye. This is what I need today. To keep trusting and stop wrestling.

Be still ,the psalmist says and know that I AM God.

Once when I was at Bible college a speaker came to address us who had written a book about God being “I AM”. He reminded us that God says ” I AM everything you will ever need.”

So on this Friday, if like me, you are worried about the future, Be still, but not idle, take some time alone with Jesus, let him be everything you need. He is in control,he has a purpose for you, your situation has potential to be good.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts you. Isaiah 26 .v.3(from memory so may be a mixture of translations!) Positve thinking + God.

Have a good Friday, and a great weekend!

Have had a few comments, not published at the ‘religious flavour’ of my posts. Well thats who I am, not religious, but a follower. Theres a difference, religion gives you rules to apply to your life and tells you to get out there and acheive your place in heaven.
Jesus says, I know you are only human and full of weaknesses so follow me and I’ll show you how to get there. He defines who I am.

To quote Rick Warren…’The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind,or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career,or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God…..’

I have been plodding at times , running and leaping at others but ,nonethe less I’ve been following. Sometimes I’ve gone up blind alleys, fallen of the path completely or just stumbled. But the amazing thing is that He’s always there to pick me up when I’m ready ,brush me off and lead me on.

If my faith irks you, tell me about the God that you don’t believe in, because I probably don’t believe in him either.

Philip Yancey describes my faith accurately, he says….’Why am I a christian? I sometimes ask myself, and to be perfectly honest the reasons reduce to two:1.the lack of good alternatives, and 2.Jesus.Brilliant,untamed,tender,creative,slippery,irreducible,paradoxically humble-Jesus stands up to scrutiny.HE is who I want my God to be…..’

So don’t just sit there and think crazy women with her embarrassing religious thoughts, write something, lets talk!Or are you a scardy cat?……. Jen xx
